Scrapping

Buster and Petey got into a huge brawl a while ago. It doesn’t happen that often but when it does it always scares me (and Daisy) to death. Naturally, both of them are just fine as usual though Buster is sporting what’s going to be a nice battle scar.
The two of them have ongoing issues with each other, mainly because Buster is mad because he’s the littlest of the three boys and Petey is the biggest. Every once in a while poor clueless Bruiser winds up the target or in the middle of things apparently just because he’s there; I hate when that happens. But usually it’s the other two, and it rarely lasts for more than a minute, which is about a minute too long for me, but though they seem like terrible fights to me, they’re really just minor scuffles; I just wish they wouldn’t do it. I cannot even fathom what dogs go through at illegal dog fights, which I understand usually last a fair amount of time and the thought just breaks my heart. What these goofballs do to each other in thirty seconds or a minute is horrible enough to me and I’m thankful their scraps are few and far between.
About the only amusing thing about it all is that even though I realize this is an alpha male dominance brawl thing, neither of the two are really the alpha dog of the house. Their (only) sister Daisy, who is half the smallest of the boys’ size, is the true alpha dog in the house, and all three of her brothers are scared to death of her when she gets mad. Heh.
Somewhat hilarious and horrifying to me at the same time is what else happened tonight while the scrap was going on. My white cat, who is a bit of a diva (for a boy) and used to appear to be scared to death of both all cats and all dogs in the house, was headed right for them and growling and snapping as much as they were, appearing to be aiming to do something about it. I hustled him into another room straight away for some cool down time, but jeez. He’s the one that got one side of his face torn off before he was living here and while still roaming the neighborhood several years ago, and basically had to have a facelift - now I think I may know how that happened. Shudder.

That might be giving the Three Doofuses a little too much credit for intelligence.
